The Credit Union Difference
Credit unions are not-for-profit organizations that exist to serve their members. Like banks, credit unions accept deposits, make loans and provide a wide array of other financial services. But as member-owned and cooperative institutions, credit unions provide a safe place to save and borrow at reasonable rates. Credit unions are owned by members who use their services. A volunteer board of directors is elected by members to manage a credit union. Credit unions operate to promote the well-being of their members. Profits made by credit unions are returned back to members in the form of reduced fees, higher savings rates and lower loan rates. Members of a credit union share a common bond, also known as the credit union’s “field of membership.” Sunkist Growers, Inc. is who we share as our common bond.
COVID-19 Update
LET’S LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER
Your Credit Union is here to help you through this uncertain time. The wellbeing of our members, staff and community is our first priority. We will continue to do our best to meet your needs. As this situation continues to change on a daily basis, we are constantly monitoring the guidance and recommendations of the Centers of Disease Control. We also receive updates from Sunkist Growers, Inc. informing us of their direction with employees and work environments.
It is our desire to follow the CDC’s recommendations to limit the spread of the coronavirus and to do everything in our power to keep our members and staff safe and healthy. Sunkist Employees Federal Credit Union has cancelled the 79th Annual Meeting scheduled for April 22, 2020 in Valencia, CA. We will attempt to reschedule another date later this year.
Our Board of Directors and management will assess our daily operations and make necessary changes if called to respond quickly to keep staff and our environment safe. This could mean a delay in processing member transaction requests, and member loans and deposits. If necessary, business hours could be reduced, and/or the credit union could be closed alternating days. You will find updated information on our website.
We encourage our members to continue to call us or use our automated Telephone Banking system, CU TALK, to make requests. Instructions for CU TALK can be found on our website. We will continue to extend credit to our members during this time. The lending process will not change, but just keep in mind we may be operating with less staff at the time of your request. (There’s only 2 of us.)
I personally want to thank all of our wonderful members for your cooperation, patience and understanding as we move forward. My journey of 25 years with our Credit Union has been one of constant growth, challenges, and the blessing of working with genuine people and members like you.
Stay Calm & Credit Union On!!
